Tess

Tess is my Aunt's new quarter horse mare. She's fairly sweet and easy going, but because she isn't handled much she's a little nervous around people she doesn't know. My aunt has asked me to help them get her as good as new again. The pictures above are of this beautiful girl.

An easy way to clean a Halter

If you didn't already know,a halter is like a dog collar except it goes on a horse's head. Being it's on most of the time, it's bound to get fairly dirty. So here are some easy instructions to get your halter shining like new.
1. The first thing you need to do is gather all the things you'll need.
-A bucket of warm water
- A bottle of Dishwashing soap
- A sponge ( I like to use the kind with the bristles)
- Your dirty halter/lead rope

2. Take apart your halter so that all the buckles are unbuckled and the leather on top ( that is if you have leather on the top) is off and all that goes in the water is nylon.

3. Soak your halter/ lead rope in the suds for about a minute and a half.

4. Take your sponge and scrub ( and I mean SCRUB) all the visible dirt off your halter/lead rope. Do this 1 or 2 times to make sure you got everything.
5. When your finished rinse off your work with clean water. I usually do this in my kitchen sink, being that it's rather large.
6 . Let the halter/lead rope dry in the sun. When it's dry it should look full in color and brand new just like the halter I did below.

I hope you found this tip helpful I know i did. . I want to thank my Horse show Boot camp for teaching me this technique! Love you guys!!!

Note: This is for nylon halters, DO NOT use this guide for leather ones. Thank you.

Down The Shore

This summer my Mom decided that she wanted to go down the shore alot, and so we go down every week. We all love the beach and the little pleasures that come with it. For instance, my brothers and I find joy in all the little clam shells we find, seeing a sail boat tack it's way across the waves, or just sitting there and watching the sun sink into the horizon. Above is a picture of one of the little sail boats we saw.
Here are some beached ones.

Shells are something my Dad and I love collecting!! In our house we have over 6 large glass containers of conch, olive , and other shells on display. I enjoy taking some out and sketching them. Above and below are my two latest sketches. I love the beach!

Trail Ride

Today I went for a trail ride with my friend, Erin, it was...... an adventure to say the least! So we were riding along and everything went very smoothly, eventually we stopped and had a picnic lunch. Trying to get everything settled ,there was the hectic tying and uniting of things, packing and unpacking as well, until everything was settled, or so we thought. As we were sitting down my pony decided it would be funny to steal our lunches, so he came up behind us and started grabbing for the sandwiches. We kept pushing him away but he just kept coming back. So finally I gave him the crust of my sandwich, big mistake! He liked it so much that he took Erin's crust and just kept trying to steal more and more. By this time I'm steaming mad, here's my pony making himself look like a spoiled brat and still going for more food! So I decided to tie him to a near by tree, it worked for like 5 minutes until he got bored and pulled the slip knot out and walked over and started to lick my fruit juice until i finally decided to pour some in my hand and let him have a sip. Oh how I wish I didn't!!! The entire way home he bolted a total of 3 times was completely nuts and I ended up walking the whole way home. Well so much for a relaxing trail ride!

Lavenders and Poppies

Well unfortunately I didn't get to garden this year untill today...... meaning nothing has bloomed yet (of my stuff anyway). But better late then never! This morning I planted California Poppies and Munstead English Lavender. They are both perennials meaning they will bloom and come up every year. We're planning on making a flower garden out in our front yard. These seedlings will be the frist addtion. Well I'll keep you posted on the growth and development of my young flowers and our everygrowing garden!

Well I wish I had pictures, unfortunately I don't...... :( but i decided to post anyway. Today I caught a 2 pound 17in largemouth bass. I was REALLY excited!!!! In addition to the bass I caught a 6in sun fish and about a 13in catfish. Without making this look awkward I'm going to finish with 4 words...... Catfish can fight!!!
